I. REPENTANCE FOR SIN IN THE CHURCH: RACISM AND SEGREGATION
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12,13)
This scripture makes it clear that we are all brothers and sisters if we are Christians. So, according to the Word of God, we are not to imagine evil in our hearts against our brother and sister in Christ Jesus. Love one another with brotherly affection, giving precedence and showing honor to one another. (Romans 12:9-10 AMP)
THIS IS A SPECIAL WORD TO THE MILITANT GROUPS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE: PLEASE STOP YOUR EVIL ACTIONS AGAINST EACH OTHER! We need to break down these walls of hostility. You cannot serve two masters. Hate evil, love good, and love the members of the body of Christ, no matter what the color.
LET LOVE for your fellow believers continue and be a fixed practice with you [never let it fail]. Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers [in the brotherhoodbeing friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. (Heb. 13:1,2 AMP)
Father God, we offer up a prayer of repentance today that we have allowed the vicious seeds of racial hatred to infiltrate our own churches, and our personal walk in Christ, in subtle and not-so-subtle ways over the years. We praise You, Heavenly Father, that at the Cross of Calvary, all of these sins are BLOTTED OUT when confessed, and we can move forward today in a NEW BEGINNING, tearing down the walls of racism that seek to divide us; and establishing PEACE, in Jesus Name. Amen.
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. (Eph. 2:1417 NIV)

II. REPENTANCE FOR THE SINS OF THE NATION: RACISM (Part Two)
A. The Ku Klux Klan Today
KKK: the Nazi salute and Holocaust denial. Although often still discussed in contemporary American politics as representing the quintessential "fringe" end of the far-right spectrum, today the group only exists in the form of a number of very isolated, scattered "supporters" that probably do not number more than a few thousand. In a 2002 report on "Extremism in America", the Anti-Defamation League wrote "Today, there is no such thing as the Ku Klux Klan. Fragmentation, decentralization and decline have continued unabated." However, they also noted that the "need for justification runs deep in the disaffected and is unlikely to disappear, regardless of how low the Klan's fortunes eventually sink."
Some of the larger KKK organizations currently in operation include:
- Church of the American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan
- Imperial Klans of America
- Knights of the White Kamelia
There is a vast number of smaller organizations.
As of 2005, there were an estimated 3,000 Klan members, divided among 158 chapters of a variety of splinter organizations, about two-thirds of which were in former Confederate states. The other third are primarily in the Midwest region.
The ACLU has provided legal support to various factions of the KKK in defense of their First Amendment rights to hold public rallies, parades, and marches, and their right to field political candidates.

B. Breaking News: Violence erupts at KKK rally in Midland, Texas, on Saturday, June 17.
Violence erupted Saturday at a Ku Klux Klan rally against illegal immigration as an angry mob protested the San Angelo based group's presence in Midland. "This rally was the largest of this type we've had," Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said. "The one 15 years ago was nothing compared to this," he said of the 1991 Klan visit.Seven people were arrested during the two-hour demonstration outside Midland County Courthouse as rioting and altercations ensued . . . The crowd of predominately white and Hispanic protesters lined the streets, yelling at Klansmen in the loud and emotionally-charged protest staffed by nearly 150 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies. Painter said the approximate cost to taxpayers for manpower was $31,000.
While the Klan delivered speeches opposing illegal immigration, it was a message that went largely unheard as noisy rioters tried to drown them out. Protesters cheered loudly when the Klan picked up their belongings and left the courthouse lawn. They were then ushered out of town with a police escort, Painter said.

Father, we see the headlines in the local news, and we understand that the Klan, and other related hate-groups, have not disappeared from America. We repent that we have allowed this evil wound to fester in our land, and we ask You for wisdom for those in authority as they seek to reign in these groups, for our own protection. We ask You to forgive those who are involved in these hate groups, and we cry out for their salvation, in Jesus Name. Amen.
(Please offer prayer, too, that any hate crime laws be used to target the TRUE hate groups and not used as a precursor to enable the persecution of Christians in America.)
III. THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL: REPENTANCE FOR GAY PRIDE EVENT IN JERUSALEM
"Awake, awake! Put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer come to you. Shake yourself from the dust, arise; sit down, O Jerusalem! Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion! For thus says the Lord: You have sold yourself for nothing and you shall be redeemed without money.'" (Isaiah 52:1-3)
Note: The International Gay (homosexual) Pride community is planning a conference in Jerusalem the week of August 7 with a march down the main streets of the city on August 10. The gathering is expected to draw 200,000 homosexuals.
- Pray that God will show himself strong by moving on the authorities and people in Israel to stop this planned gathering of homosexuals.
- Pray that the people of God will see this as a sign of God's judgment (Romans 1:16-32) for the Gaza disengagement, among other acts of sin and disobedience, and that we will intercede for Israel for God's mercy and deliverance.
- Pray for those who are planning to come to this event, that they would be convicted of their sin, repent, turn to God in forgiveness, receive salvation in Yeshua and be cleansed.
