WEEK SEVENTEEN: Friday, March 17—Thursday, March 23, 2006

Religion is striving for righteousness by works. Christianity is righteousness by faith. Which path do we follow?

In Acts, Chapters Six and Seven, Stephen exposes religion in some Pharisees and Sadducees (the priests and pastors of today). He just spoke truth, which exposed dead, evil, dark hearts. [Read Acts 7:51-18]

The religious folks said “We don’t want to hear this.” ”. . . they stopped their ears . . . ”(Acts 7:57) Dead established religion is stifling the saints and lulling them to sleep. The blind person behind the pulpit is leading the blind in the pews; so they are all stuck in a ditch.

When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” (Matthew 15:10-14)

“Father God, we repent that we have allowed our ears to become dull of hearing, and our eyes to become dull of seeing, so that we have lost our way. We ask You, Heavenly Father, to RESTORE that which the locust has eaten within each of us, that we might see clearly, discern rightly, and walk in paths of righteousness, for Your Name’s sake, we pray. Amen.”

II. REPENTANCE FOR THE SINS OF THE NATION: HOMOSEXUAL CURRICULUM

(This week, we want to offer a prayer of repentance for allowing distorted, unbiblical material to be approved for use in our public schools—specifically, that which would promote the homosexual agenda among our youth. The following article, describing a dramatic example of this problem occurring NOW in the State of California, appeared last week in World Net Daily.)

'Mom,' 'dad' to be axed from school textbooks?

A traditional-values organization in California is warning the state's residents that a bill pending in the Legislature, if approved, could remove all references to gender in public schools—threatening even references to "mom" or "dad" in textbooks. If the bill, SB 1437, were to become law, warns the Capitol Resource Institute, "it could potentially require gender-neutral bathrooms in our schools and all references to 'husband' and 'wife' or 'mom and dad' removed from school textbooks as the norm.”

Sponsored by Democratic Sen. Sheila Kuehl—a lesbian actress best known for playing Zelda in "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" in the '60s—the legislation would add "gender" (actual or perceived) and "sexual orientation" to the law that prohibits California public schools from having textbooks, teaching materials, instruction or "school-sponsored activities” that reflect adversely upon people based on characteristics like race, creed and handicap.

States Capitol Resource Institute on its website: “The reason this is such an outrageous bill is because it is the most extreme effort thus far to transform our public schools into institutions that disregard all notions of the traditional family unit. SB 1437 seeks to eliminate all 'stereotypes' of the traditional family so that young children are brainwashed into believing that families with moms and dads are irrelevant.

“Father God, we ask You to forgive us for yielding up our rights as Bible-believing, American citizens, to others, who have a different agenda, in determining the curriculum our children will study in our public schools. We ask that You would forgive these “agents of change” who have been strategically placed as gatekeepers and decision-makers in our public schools, school boards, and textbook publishing companies—placed there to undermine the youth of our nation. These gatekeepers do not know what they do. We ask You to restore what the locust has eaten in our curriculum across this great nation, and in the minds of our youth; and to place a hedge around further activity of this sort. Finally, Lord, we ask for the DEFEAT of SB 1437 in the State of California. Let it begin HERE, Father God, and let it begin NOW. In Jesus’ Name, amen!”

III. THE BLESSING OF ISRAEL: INTERCESSION OVER THE IRANIAN THREAT

Iran (See Daniel 10:2;10:12-14) is making a tremendous effort to acquire an atomic bomb, to be used especially against Israel. Although Europe and the US oppose this development they are not showing a willingness yet to physically stop Iran from going on with the enrichment program Iran has undertaken. Syria and Hizbullah are a threat to Israel from the North, and Egypt has built a mighty army capable of attacking Israel from the south.

Pray against this plan and stand before the Lord till He thwarts this plan, either by world pressure or military action, as necessary.

Pray into the situation on our northern borders. .Hizbullah is forever trying to provoke Israel and to kidnap soldiers etc. Additionally, Hizbullah has at least 10,000 rockets aimed at Israel.

Pray for God's protection of Israel from all the Man centered 'peace plans' being fielded and pushed by the US, EU, UN and the Soviet Bloc.Nothing but God's plan and word will bring true, lasting, real peace to this region.
